While the info was great, it would certainly help in presentation to include photos of the areas discussed.

We used this guide primarily for Mendoza and for Buenos Aires, and I found it very helpful. There were a lot of useful tidbits on local culture and customs (such as the water bottle shrines along the highway), and the reviews of places to stay and dine and explore were up to date and relevant. My only complaint was that the number of restaurants reviewed in Buenos Aires was quite limited...I would have preferred to have had more establishments reviewed there.I understand the problem...there are SO MANY restuarants there! But, it would be nice to have more of them reviewed...sometimes we heard from others about possible places to eat, but could find no review.Other than that, however, the book was great.

What this guide lacks is any real good color pictures of the landscape, historically significant buildings, parks, etc. so as to make identification easier when we visit.

I have great respect for much of Frommer's work but this book was a disappointment. I had found a terrific place to stay through the internet and was looking for more information about the city, its history, and the culture.I find that once restaurants have made the guide books, they often fail to live up to the hype.Consulting "local knowledge" seems to be the best way to find restaurants and entertainment.Even the maps were sometimes misleading.

Sorry I can't suggest another guide.I'm a big fan of the Eyewitness Guides but there doesn't seem to be one for Buenos Aires.

Considering this is ONE guide for an entire huge country, it serves more as either an introductory guide before you go, or on a multi-city trip where you are not spending more than two days anywhere. If your stay is longer in any one spot, you need to compliment this with additional detailed local guides or you'll wish you had more. But again, for its purpose as an overall Argentina guide, it is excellent. The Eyewitness guides are the best when it comes to presenting a destination in its totality: history, culture, etc in addition to sites.

I sure like this edition overall, though it had some shortcomings for my specific trip's purposes. Classic Frommers style -- concise, tight, useful info. Good complement to my other guides -- TimeOut Buenos Aires, Footprint and Fodors. Some key items about towns and lodging in Mendoza region I only found in Frommers. But, was weak on info for NW-Salta-JuyJuy region as compared to the others.
