Child soldiers are common in the DRC, less so in the Sudan and I'm not sure about the CAR. The DRC is virtually lawless and child soldiers are often brutalised to the point they will commit any atrocity you care to name. So the effect of their use is generally devastating for all concerned. I believe that they are also common in Uganda (Lords Resistance Army) but less so in Sudan.
