I need to write a 5 page thesis on this and I need a few reasons which show that despite the fact that the Cuban Missile Crisis took place in cuba, it was overall a struggle between the USA and the USSR.

Cuba was caught between two empires, each trying to achieve their narrow self-serving goals, rather than actually care about the cuban people.Cuban protection from american invasion would have required an alliance with russia, and compliance with their will, which happened to be storing nuclear weapons on their island.
