We are moving to Ecuador hopefully in the Spring and this has some very good information in it. I wish the pages were the quality of the older version but it is still a great value. This is a must-have for anyone that is going to travel to Ecuador and has good information for those of us that wish to relocate to there as well. Posted on December 3, 2010 Dixie Flatten says... There are lots of guidebooks ... picking one with current information is a first priority. Beyond that, finding one that digs deeper into the kind of questions a typical visitor has turns out to be useful as well. This book does that well. I was also happy with the Internet references scattered throughout so I could find other information too. Posted on December 3, 2010 Kaleigh Gawith says... I think this book is a comprehensive and excellent resource for anyone considering moving to Ecuador, which would be me.The topics from history to current culture and politices, climate, demographics, etc. were very helpful to me. I am 3 weeks away from my first trip to Ecuador, and South America, and have throughly enjoyed this guide book. All of the Moon guides I have read are good.Unfortunately my copy ordered on June 2, 2010, has pages 85-116 replaced with a repeat of pages 53-84 so this is just a warning to check your copy when you get it.It was beyond the return date before I noticed it and I'm still trying to find out how to get a replacement. Hopefully this is just a fluke and other copies are fine. Posted on December 5, 2010 Magdalen Voong says... This is another well written guide from the Moon Travel Series. (I "graduated" from Lonely Planet about seven years ago and have no plans to return.) My husband and I traveled through the central Sierra and jungle area for a few weeks in early 2010.We used this guide and were very happy with the decisions that we made based on the information provided. No complaints, just another set of happy travelers.Thank you, Moon Ecuador! This book is a mine of interesting and very useful information.I particularly like the detailed descriptions and recommendation of places to see and places to stay. It is written in a very easy to read style. My copy is already dog-eared. I highly recommend it to everyone interested in visiting Ecuador. Posted on December 8, 2010 Raul Tibbit says... This book gave me the answers I was looking for and introduced some items I hadn't even thought about.Nicely organized, fairly concise, informative but certainly not dry, it provides an excellent overview of what to expect when taking a trip to Ecuador. Posted on December 9, 2010 Lilian Friedmann says... I have made many trips to Ecuador and have consulted many travel books on that country. This particular book is the best one I've read - the information is presented in a comprehensible manner and is interesting. Each section provides you with specific tips that allow you to experience the local culture, thus avoidig any pitfalls that the inexperienced traveler could encounter. The book highlights the country's wide range of cultural and geographical diversity. Posted on December 14, 2010 Kamala Terr says... If you want lots of details on life and attractions in Guayaquil and Quito, this is your book. Cursory treatment of anything outside these two largest metropolitan areas Not quite what I was looking for. Crowder does however have many interesting audio interviews with authors and experts that are available online. Search latin america traveler dot com. Posted on December 16, 2010 Leave a Comment |
