I purchased this product with complete intent to bring alcohol on board the ship with me. Complete sucess aboard the Alskan Princess Ship. No leakage , great product ..... we were also ableto purchase alcohol during port times even though our bags were scanned when we got back on board the ship . The bags traveled from Boston to Seatle . Posted on December 7, 2010 Clarinda Heiberger says... Excellent customer service, excellent shipping and works as stated.Just used them to transport alcohol on an airline to a cruise!! No problems. Posted on December 7, 2010 Agustina Branner says... Bought from Amazon, shipped super fast (which is a plus) shiped in VERY flimsy packaging VIA USPS. Surprisingly it made it intact. I would suspect that if this item shipped in winter, the funnel would have cracked/shattered in below freezing temps, potentially puncturing the flasks. Seems the seller is banking on reviews, because there was more paperwork asking to post reviews than in instructions. Heading on a cruise in the next month or so, will post a more indepth review once I return. Posted on December 10, 2010 Charmain Dome says... I recently purchased the Rum Runner Cruise Kits and used two of the 16 oz. containers to carry wine in my checked bags.I think that the product is a great idea and a safer way to carry liquids that are only available in glass bottles. However, one of the plastic containers did leak, and if I hadn't enclosed them inziploc bags as a precaution, some of my belongings might have been damaged.I would still recommend this product and intend to continue using mine...along with the added security of ziploc bags. Filled 3 bags and put them in the check in luggage and it was there later that night! My friend had a cruise the next week and I let her borrow them and once again they worked like a charm while 2 of her friends got their bottles confiscated. I would definitley reccodmend these. Super durable and fit a lot of liquid. Only reason this didn't get five stars was one of the smaller bags wasn't made right and wasn't sealed so it was useless. Still saved so much on drinks. Posted on December 11, 2010 Evie Waitz says... On all three of the smaller 8oz bottles, the heat seals at the top of the flask, opposite the nozzle, separated. The first one, I was rinsing it out with hot water per the directions, when it sprayed all over my kitchen. I fired up the iron to full temp, put the seal between two pieces of strong paper and ironed over where the seal should be a few times. The plastic melted back together, and although not aesthetically pleasing, it seems to be holding fluids just fine. Other than that, no complaints so far. Posted on December 12, 2010 Dana Torbus says... Saved TONS of money on a cruise by packing our own...it's lightweight design and small mini flasks allowed us to carry it anywhere and refill with the larger flasks as needed back in the room. We still use them if we need to bring liquor to a party etc. I have two designer flasks (Ed Hardy leather and Neiman's swarovski crystal studded) yet I still wind up carrying the rum runner ones instead...easy to fill, carry, and they hold more and are lightweight! I have passed the recommendation on to many travelers! Oh, as for the plastic factor of it...it's amazingly firm. We packed them all, full, and they went through 2 flights in 4 different suitcases with not a leak and then a few were still full on our return flights and made it home just fine. Our shampoo bottle made of heavy plastic got crushed and leaked (we have soft sided luggage) but these did not. We packed them in different bags wondering if the cruise's xray machine would have them show up on one and they'd ask for em but they didn't show up at all. Incidentally, we looked into the cruise rules before packing these, on the cruise line we went on they said you CAN bring your own liquor on board, but if they find bottles via xray they will ask that they keep them til the end of the trip. Kind of an oxymoron. You are allowed unless they see them on the xray? Well, this made that a win/win rule. The plastic doesn't show up via xray but we would order a diet coke at the bar and no bartender minded at all when we poured in some rum from our flask (I was told they wouldn't mind at all by others who use these). Even if you just want to use them in your room or when out on the island, you'll still save money.Saved thousands of bucks because ship alcohol is so costly...and we spent that on jewelry in Saint Thomas! Funny thig is...some we know who splurge on the nicest vacation rooms...still carry these onto the ship or into a hotel. Hey, in this economy, saving on every drink counts! p.s. Another tip for you: most cruise lines allow people to buy gift cards ahead of time with pre-purchased sodas that are much cheaper than buying single drinks on the ship as you go. Most ships also instantly put a 15% gratuity (or more) on every drink if you don't purchase them in advance. We still tipped the bartenders but we purchased these cards ahead of time and if we ordered several cans of soda at once or had them delivered to the room it saved a ton of cash on the sodas too. Posted on December 12, 2010 William Blasini says... I never write reviews, but had to spread the word in this case. Just got back from our Carnival Cruise with the newly purchased Rum Runner Cruise Kit that I bought after reading nothing but positive reviews. And let me say that they didn't dissapoint one bit. No problems getting them through security whatsoever. After the muster drill we went back to our cabin to find our luggage with Rum Runner flasks full of Vod/Rum/Teq, undamaged and not a drop spilled. The whole week I was running around the pool & casinos with the small ones in my pocket and only going back once or twice a day to refill. I spoke with several people that tried to do the water bottle thing and they got busted, so I'm glad I did my research before hand. I did purchase beers on board here and there, but since OJ was free, I was sippin screwdrivers the whole trip. I bought directly through the company website and they shipped the same day. These things paid for themselves in the 1st day. They are totally heavy-duty, hold a ton of booze and I predict that I'll be using them for concerts, ball-games or wherever that overcharge for booze. Excellent service and a great product. Thanks Rum Runner! Posted on December 13, 2010 Tim Kirovac says... I was a little skeptical, but purchased the kit anyway for our trip to Hawaii that included a cruise around the islands for the second week of our stay. The small flasks held nearly a full bottle of amaretto, and the large ones held about 4 liters of wine. We placed them in our checked luggage and they were still there when delivered to our cabin. One of the large bottles leaked slightly via the cap despite being tightly closed, staining a t-shirt. This is the only reason I did not give 5 stars. I suggest filling them a couple hours early and laying them out on paper towels or a white hotel towel as a test before loading them in your luggage. I definitely plan on using these again! I figure we saved a couple hundred dollars ($11 for a glass of house wine!!), but more importantly, we were able to enjoy drinks when we wanted them on our own balcony.
