We found this guide very helpful in planning our trip, especially in finding a few off the beaten path spots.

I went to Belize for 10 days. San Ignacio, Placencia, Caye Caulker, Ambergris Caye. This book gave me the alot of good inside information about what to expect from all the different areas I traveled. It was comprehensive and I'm glad I brought it with me. It may need to be updated soon. Some of the acommodation pricings were off. I also thought the book at times painted a better picture than what I saw, but only at times. Mostly a great book.

This remarkable book contains many useful information about Belize. Even after living a few years in Belize I am still finding pearls of hints and tips in this book.

This is my first time purchasing a "rough guide" book. Our travel group had several different books and was consistently disappointed by the inaccurate descriptions of hotels. For instance, one hotel was located RIGHT on the airport runway at one of the islands - without mention from the book. The location of hotels and destinations near those hotels was also WAY off - specifically in San Pedro.Luckily, we had two other guide books to reference.

I judged the book by it's cover and pictures and regret it.I will not use this book series again.

Just wanted to point that out! Obviously the reviews must be talking about previous editions. The maps, locations and reviews are accurate in this edition.

This is a fantastic book which lacks no info. I will be traveling to Belize soon and am required to know everything from tourism, maps, history, customs and anything else you can think of. This has been very helpful in giving me the info that I require.

This new book, by an author who has reported on Belize for 15 or 20 years and has written several other books on the country, is based on dozens of interviews with expats, residents, business people and others in Belize. It doesn't whitewash the experience many have in Belize and presents both the good and the bad.Read it for yourself and see, but I think it's the best information available for anyone thinking of buying property, living (part time or full time) or retiring in Belize, or even just trying it out for a month or two.

We took a trip to Belize at the end of '05/beg of '06. The info in this book was a little outdated and not very useful. Save yourself the trouble and buy the Lonely Planet, that's the only book you need.

I got this book on a reccomendation from the Toucan Trail, A budget traveler's online guide to Belize. I have to say that this is the most comprehensive guide for vacationers that I have ever seen.I had to wait a while for the most receent edition, but it was worth it.Topics that hadn't even occured to me to research are included here (thank gawd!).The book even covers traveling into Guatemala to vist the ruins at Tikal. If you only buy one guide for your trip to Belize, this should be the one.

this book did cover low bidget places and was very handy.it also covered more upscale loactions but did indicate that quite well.(we visited Belize 10/06).the prices were pretty accurate and the reviews as well.

one of our favorite places in san pedro was a 'hole in the wall' almost literally that this book recomended.it cost about $1 american for 2 of us to have breafast (home made belizian style breakfast tacos) and we would get a slice of homemade cake to take with us for lunch.we also stayed at rubies and breakfasted there often.rubies was definetly the best stay for the money.

we also used this book in san ignacio and found it extremely helpful and again in belize city (belmead i think).it told us everything we needed to know.

i higly recomend this book for any savy low budget traveler.
